Tony’s role: expert witness for J. Hutchinson Pty Ltd (the builder), engaged and instructed by Collins Biggers Paisley.
Description: The Metro Residences comprise three high-rise residential towers constructed above a Podium building housing the Chatswood Transport Interchange. The combustible cladding comprises four different brands of aluminium composite panel with a fire-retardant compound in their core (ACP FR).
Tony was instructed to provide an opinion on whether the combustible cladding was compliant. He arranged for laboratory testing of samples of the different cladding types. He issued an expert report in May 2024 with supplementary reports in July 2024, December 2024 and February 2025. The proceeding is ongoing.
