Tony’s role: expert witness for Hume City Council, engaged and instructed by Macquarie Local Government Lawyers.
Description: The building was a waste and resource recovery centre used for the processing and storage of printer cartridges. It had been damaged in a large fire in June 2022. The matter involved an appeal by the building owner against a Building Order requiring the rectification of serious defects in the fire-related Essential Safety Measures (ESMs).
Tony was instructed to provide an opinion on whether the performance of the building’s ESMs was sufficient to protect life and property in the event of a fire. He issued an expert report in September 2024. The matter settled immediately before a scheduled hearing in October 2024.
